Grady's 8GA apprentices prepare for the annual High School Choice Fair.

In 2009-10, Citizen Schools launched 8GA at all campuses in Texas: Grady Middle School, Jane Long Middle School, Sharpstown Middle School in Houston, and Kealing Middle School and Bedichek Middle School in Austin. In addition to the hands-on learning and homework time appropriate for all students, 8GA apprentices spend 2.5 hours each week, and 8-10 Saturdays throughout the year, on activities tailored to their unique needs.

During the spring semester, each 8GA campus completes a legacy project: a showcase project or event to "teach back" what they learned about high school, college, and career readiness through Citizen Schools. These exciting events showcase Citizen Schools' oldest students and positively impact the lives of hundreds of students and families at our partner schools.
